“We recently held our wedding ceremony and reception at Waterford Castle, and would highly recommend it as a wedding venue. The castle is located on an island in beautiful surroundings, has a lovely ambience and is an intimate venue for such an important occasion. All the staff were very professional and helpful, both beforehand and on the wedding day, ensuring that we could relax and enjoy the day. The food and wine, and the quality of service were excellent. A lot of our guests commented that it was a magical day.”

“The day itself was excellent and Gillian and all the team could not have done anymore to make it better. One of our guests , Tony O’ Donnell the Exec Chef in the Burlington, tried to call into Michael in the kitchen to compliment him on the quality and presentation of the food (best he had ever had at a wedding!!) but unfortunately Michael had finished up for the night. Please pass on the comments of my Exec Chef to Michael as I feel it is really rare that such quality is served at weddings. It was really a highlight for our guests who continue to comment on how fantastic the venue and staff were not only on the day but on the day before and the day after. I know Gillian did so much to help make this day great and no request no matter how large or small was looked after brilliantly”

_” We had the most amazing wedding day in Waterford Castle , it was well and truly the best day of our lives. Everything was perfect, the castle, the food, the service, – all fantastic. From the moment you arrive on the island by ferry it is like you are whisked back in time to a fairy tale on your own private island for the day. The staff are brilliant at the castle, so accommodating and nothing was too much trouble for them, they were always available yet so discreet! Having the place to ourselves for the day really made the whole experience, just having our own guests there made it so special and intimate. We had excellent support from Gillian right from the day we booked our wedding until we checked out, she made sure everything ran smoothly on the day and was always on hand when we had questions or requests, she is so efficient! The barmen Peter and Derek were so helpful on the night of the wedding and the guests really enjoyed chatting to them at the bar!

All of the guests had a wonderful day and said it was such an amazing wedding, they are still talking about it, mainly about the delicious food – thanks Michael Quinn! We couldn’t have wished for a more perfect place to spend our special day, a truly magical wedding venue. We would both like to thank Waterford Castle for everything and we are looking forward to spending many anniversaries to come back on the island!

“As a couple from California looking for a wedding venue all the way in Ireland it was hard to put complete trust in the pictures we saw posted online. As our communication with Waterford castle staff continued, we became more at ease because the staff was so kind and thorough with our plans. “We traveled home from New York for our wedding in Waterford Castle in Summer 2012. Our fantastic day exceeded all expectations, and our guests are still talking about it! Planning was effortless with the help we received, especially given the distance. From the moment we arrived we received excellent service. The staff were there whenever we needed anything and could not have been more helpful. The food at the wedding was spectacular, definitely restaurant standard as opposed to typical wedding food! For the setting, ambiance, accommodation, staff, food and value, I could not recommend Waterford Castle highly enough and there is no way our wedding would have been as magical anywhere else in the world.”

“The Great Hall, where the ceremony took place was a beautiful and very suitable venue. The tapestries on the walls look really wonderful in the photos, incidentally. Champagne on the lawn after the ceremony, and indeed being able to celebrate out of doors in the suntrap courtyard and lawns in front of the castle until 10 pm that night was a huge bonus. The food was superb and universally complimented. Our favourite moment, surprisingly, was a quiet walk down the stunningly beautiful, rhododendron lined avenue whilst the guests were heading for the dining room – a special memory. We had a truly wonderful day in every way. Gilian and the entire staff could not have been more helpful. Thank you Waterford Castle.”

_’‘ We got married in Waterford Castle in April and went back last weekend for our 6 month anniversary (very corny but a good excuse).

From our first viewing of the venue, every member of staff has been a credit to the place. Gillian, Joanna and Adrian couldn’t have done enough to calm nerves when needed and to keep everything running smoothly. On the day, the waiting and bar staff were wonderful, efficient and friendly they made every guest feel special.

I can’t praise the food enough. For the wedding, so many guests expressed surprise that steaks were cooked to their liking, special requests were followed perfectly and the quality was so far above what anyone would expect for a wedding meal. The food last weekend was just as good, the scallop starter was delicious and the venison just melted in my mouth.

We stayed in the Presidential Suite on both occasions. I’ve noticed some reviews here remarking negatively on the decor but there’s certainly nothing wrong with this room. It keeps the period feel of the place with the bonus of a really comfortable bed.

We’ve already booked to go back again for our 1st anniversary, I can’t wait!

“Rich & I really wanted our own space for our wedding day, my sisters were travelling from Australia & we wanted exclusion from the world outside for a whole weekend, big ask? Not at all, enter Waterford Castle. From the second we drove off the boat on day one, met Gillian & saw that dining room, I knew it would be perfect & it really was. The staff in the hotel are fantastic & went completely above the call of duty over the weekend. Food was second to none & everyone raved about not only the dinner but the barbq event we held the day after. Proof of the hotels prowess showed when one of my closest friends said to me after ‘we are all happy you got married last – what a fantastic venue’. Only shame was we didn’t get to spend enough time in the magnificent presidential suite but am booked in for the anniversary and simply can’t wait.”

The external charm and beauty is more than equalled inside where it has a distinctly “non-hotel feel”.
