“Fantastic!”

Stayed August 2012, travelled as a couple

As part of our honeymoon tour of Ireland, we planned a special nights stay at the Waterford Castle....from the time we crossed over on the ferry we fell in love! We were greeted by a wonderful hostess and were surprised at the upgrade to the Presidential Suite! The room was wonderful! We also booked a tee time on the islands golf course and although we experienced a bit of rain, it was a fantastic time! That night we booked dinner in the hotels fine dining room and had the most fantastic meal!!! We both agreed it was the best meal we have had so far in our lives! Upon returning to our room the staff had put rose petals all over our bed.....completing an already amazing experience! We definitely recommend a stay at the castle!!

“Breathtaking....”

Stayed November 2012, travelled as a couple

WOW!! What a place. Literally from the moment you enter the castle gates, the 'experience' begins. Because of the castle's location a small car ferry is on hand to bring guests across the short distance to the island on which the castle is located. This castle has the wow factor... and then some!

The lobby area is just spectacular, jaw dropping even. The receptionist was very friendly and the porter was on hand to take our bags to our room - a very kind gesture, as because it is a castle, there is no lift. We stayed here for a night after our friends wedding in November, staying in the Kildare suite. The rooms are all on a grand scale and very 'old world' but still with modern conveniences.

The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We had expected the food at the wedding reception to be a bit more of a standard befitting a castle, but sadly we found it to be only average. The breakfast was delicious, but the breakfast room appeared cramped and service was slow and sporadic.

The heating system in our room was very noisy during the night. I think the noise from the boiler was passing through the water in the pipes to the radiators. Because of this we didn't have the most restful nights sleep.

All in all this was a most wonderful once in a lifetime experience.

“Amazing!”

My wife and I were here as part of our honey moon. The drive into the castle was magical. We received a gift of a bottle of wine from the hotel, and we wandered through the grounds leisurely. The castle is amazing. Dinner was spectacular, we're still talking about our meal months later. Perfect for foodies... Wish we could have stayed longer!

“Loved the lodges”

Stayed December 2012, travelled with friends

I stayed the night of the office Christmas party and shared a lodge with 3 coworkers.
The lodge was lovely, fitted to a very high standard and the bed was the most comfortable bed I've slept with in a long time.
The lodge is basically a three bedroom house with a large open plan kitchen and sitting room, two of the three bedrooms en suite, a downstairs toilet and a main bathroom upstairs. All is very spacious, you'd happily live in one of them.
They are a bit of a trek to the Castle - we ended up driving up and down.
Definitely recommended if you are a big enough party or a family.
